We work hard the whole week..well i do..sometimes..and then comes the week end. So what do we do in week ends? Well, some times back i would just be at home surfing, chatting, watching movies..ou touye lezard :p. However, ever since i came to know that i might be going to somewhere in Africa for quite some time, I have changed attitude. From now on..i work for Monday to Friday..and as from Friday night.. its party time. And since we are partying..let's party like rockstars..

In the past few days, i came to realise that i actually know many ppl, and i didnt kinda take the time to keep in touch. For instance today I went to a party organised by UoM student..gosh i didnt realise i knew so many ppl..btw..for all those i promised to come back have a chat and i didnt come..sorry..next time promise i will..oh and also..to the beautiful gurls i promised a dance and didnt come..sorry again..i promise next time i will dance with u..

Well this party was great today..got to meet some ppl i didnt meet in a while..and some new faces..and some i knew only on MSN or FB..well then..i had fun..got my load of bizous..handshakes..got my load of tequilla..vodka and beer..and cigs as well..although i was out of cig before the end of the party...

Its a kinda good feeling to go somewhere..and actually know ppl..i think its the first time i went to a party alone..and soon as i got in there i had ppl coming.."hey ki p dire?? lontant pas trouve toi.." well there were some with their "Encore toeme????" as well. I had a good time today..and indeed i can say..i partied like a rockstar..well its been this way for some week ends now. Tonight itself i was invited to the iCreate Night at 2122 and the School of Design catwalk..but since i dnt have any means of transport..i think i'll b at home tonight..i think its really time i get this driving licence..for there are cars over here..but i am not legally entitled to drive them..pfftt..

Anyways..thats it for today..where and when is the next party?? Or perhaps tom will b meeting with my mates for some drinks..

Falling out of love - The definitive guide

Every relationship comes with an expiry date. Believe it or not..some come earlier..and some much later..

What to do when the time comes? Very often this kind of feeling happens to one of the partner in the couple..either he/she does not want to continue with the relationship, or he/she doesn't seem to feel anything for the other one. Well here a link where you could get a test for that..

Let's say you are in the situation of the other partner, you've been dumped or about to be dumped by your bf/gf, yet you still happen to have very strong feelings for that person. Things could get pretty messy over here..trust me i know what am saying.

Well if you are in that situation, or u just wanna get over it, here's some advice, which I have been applying since some weeks and they actually seem to work.

Step 1: Remove all the traces of that person in you life. Well you could eventually block the person from ur IM/facebook, delete his/her sms, delete his/her pictures, return him/her their gifts or throw them away (this could be rude) or keep it somewhere in a dark corner you will forget it ever existed. This is a very first step.

Step 2: You might wanna avoid coming across that person on the road, hence you won't go to places where you are sure u are gonna meet that person in the very near future..perhaps afterward when you are done. This would also imply, not meeting common friends for a while.

Step 3: If you happen to still b friends with the person, you might wanna distance yourself a bit, it might be pretty painful to wanna be as close as possible with the you love but the latter no longer treat you the same. So taking some distance would do you good.

Step 4: Its a real good idea to meet new people, in the past few weeks, i have met more people that i ever did while i was with my ex, and it felt real good meeting new people. Oh yeah, you could also go out more often with ur friends, have fun..clubbing would be great, shopping with friends as well would go great..you could also take this opportunity to do all the things that you always wanted to do, but you couldnt cause of your bf/gf. I am sure there is a list of such things..do it..be it eating smtg in particular or having a one night stand..just do it..

Step 5: After taking some distance, you can now make a list why things wouldn't work. She was too bitchy..she was too bossy..he was too jealous..he was not caring enough..write it out down..

Step 6: One lost...many more found..

As much as you would wanna forget the person and not feel anything for that person, there will be times where u'll be missing that person, or be pissed when some1 else is flirting with him/her. Just keep in mind some of the feelings might not ever disappear, but hey..we need to move on don't we? So let's move on..

Back to blogging? am i?

Well i just kinda felt an urge to write. There's currently the song Feeling Good by Muse playing. Am i feeling good? Well all the signs show that i am..

Well, I have tried to change the look of the blog, and updated some information about me. No this ain't another blog of a 24 yr old geek. It's a blog about me, people, technology, if it is interesting enough..its about everything, viewed from my eyes.

Y did i decided to blog after so long? Well there surely are some reasons. The two most important reasons if i might say: How i fell out of love..or atleast still trying..i'll write a post soon enough about the matter. The second one..well..i've decided to quit smoking, now i know some of you will b laughing soon as u read this sentence. Well, i dunno if i'll be able the quit at all, but i'll give it a try seriously.. and perhaps write about my progress over here..and eventually, help some of you who wanna quit? Btw i haven't been smoking since friday night..and i still dnt feel the usual urge to smoke..perhaps am i on the good way?

Oh concerning the blog, when it so happened i kind lost some of the widgets i had while changing the template. I'll have to get the links of the people back here..or maybe not..if they want me to have there link here..they're gonna have to ask me..coz most of them blogs i dnt read anymore..dnt really have the time..and sometimes..some are just boring..blogging about the same stuffs..

Well i might be the same as well..but..who cares?

i no longer work for EDS, i now work for Anglo African Enterprises, am an engineer, my core speciality is Intelligent Networks, but i am also an Systems support engineer,
i am not longer just a university drop out. in the past months i have completed a number of certification, from symantec, hp, huawei, sun and more to come.

that was for work, but i guess on general i am still the same..perhaps a bit more of a shopaholic, i go clubbing more that i used to before.

oh did i say i was in china for a month? went there for training at huawei. and yeah i got a new mob..a nokia n73me, also a bluetooth headset
well many things have changed
right now am at the office, dnt have much to do..mo o chommage technique la..ene projet p tarder pou coumencer..

Well..seems like I eventually moved from the "Student" occupation to "Working" (and also my getting rare on blogging).

As u the title might suggest, I've joined work. Am currently working at Enterprise Data Services Ltd, at Rose Hill. Although my job title is not yet confirmed, since they haven't yet finalised my contract, my job title will is most probably, if not for sure, going to be Jr Network Support Engineer.

I can't tell much about the company activities. But would rather say we are in structured cabling, Hospitality Triple Play Services (actually my dept..), the company is actually a network integrator (like France said..).

Although its sometimes a bit under pressure..i do actually love that job..I got wonderful colleagues (who i hope are reading this..)..and theres a whole college of cute gurls just opposite to the office!! lol..

Bon..I am currently reading some documentation..for job purposes..can't say on wht am reading..coz its confidential..

Causality

Many of u know that am a firm believer of causality. I am rather of those who believe every effect has a cause rather than thinking of some absurd destiny. And this is even mentioned in Hindu Philosophy. While i was reading (re-re-re-reading for some articles...) on Wikipedia I once again came across the Grandfather paradox. The key concept of this paradox is

Suppose a man traveled back in time and killed his biological grandfather before the latter met the traveller's grandmother. As a result, one of the traveller's parents (and by extension, the traveller himself) would never have been conceived. This would imply that he could not have travelled back in time after all, which in turn implies the grandfather would still be alive, and the traveller would have been conceived, allowing him to travel back in time and kill his grandfather. Thus each possibility seems to imply its own negation, a type of logical paradox.

Assuming that time travel was made possible..either via some kind of wormhole or following my theory (might b nonsense as well..bt hell this is science fiction..)..i managed to travel back in time..and kill my grandfather..what would happen of me?? or better..what if i fathered my father rather than my grandfather doing so?? I would then be..euh..my own grandfather..confusing isn't it?

Anyways..i was actually thinking about time travel..lately i was in a situation where i had to make a choice, one which would decide on the rest of my career..and while i was in a some weird stuff hit my mind..travelling to the future could help me decide what to choose..but how??

What is the present to start with?

According to me..the present is what we can hear, see, feel. Well the present is what we experience through our senses. Those are bounded by the speed of light..and the speed of travel of electrical signals to our brain. Speed of light is basically the fastest speed of travel mankind came across (isn't it?). Now what if it wasn't? This could be distorted..or we could go faster than that (perhaps through a wormhole??). This would mean we are already living in the past..since the events we are experiencing have already occurred..and since our perception depends on the speed of light or speed of electrical signal..we are experiencing it later..

Is that confusing?

Well..thats just what i think..

I also read a lot about parallel universes..i even have a documentary by BBC on the subject. The documentary deals with parallel universes, string theory, M theory, supergravity , and other theoretical physics concepts. Participants include Michio Kaku, Paul Steinhardt, and other physicists. Dark times are here..

Assignments and tests will b over by monday..this week carried many sleepless nights..time tables have been distributed, we are all set for the "grand plongeon". Now starts the most tiring, stressful, and hard period of the year, the exams period.

This is the somewhat the same every year at the same period of time (due to the yearly system), except that this time am in my final year, there's no room for errors.

I wish i could blog a bit more, but i kinda badly lack sleep, and am having great difficulty posting typing (actually doing anything...).

Well posts might be eventually a bit rare, do my dear readers (if any :p), plz bear with me..

Finally i get some time to blog..

There's this film i feel i should blog about..300. I hope many of you know Spartans? I knew about Spartans at the of 10, i was really fond of reading my encyclopedia (Childcraft). At first i found them as a nation of brutes, but later on i came to appreciate a their way of life, although it is a very elitist one. And on friday i got to watch this film 300 (which i watched 5 more times), which is about the great Battle of Thermopylae, where 300 Spartans fought whole armies of persians. Eventually they got ass-kicked, but this was something more admirable. The fight for freedom.

Although this story is a bit fantasied, this battle actually took place. And most of the characters mentioned in this film really existed.

I particularly like the special effects in the film..specially the sequence where King Leonidas goes ahead and starts ass-kicking. Spartans are really good warriors,and i think this film is a good tribute to the 300 brave one who stood against the Persians.

There are some quotes that i really appreciated from the movie and here the are..

Yesterday was my bday..and we decided to have a small gathering together with all my friends.

Hehe..today i got 23 (sounds old na??)

Well nothing much planned for today..

woke up at 09.00 (although i had classes at 9)..left home at 10.20 coz i had to edit a few stuff on fotoshop for my presentation..waited for a bus for 30 minutes..

When i reach uni had to print some slides..the photocopy centre at the commons was too over crowded so i walked back to the other one near the uni bus stop..there also it was crowded but much less..i finally got to use the pc..and it didnt recognise my pendrive..and when it did..i could access it coz some other program was using it..on doing Ctrl+Alt+Del..i saw that there was a bunch of AdobeR.exe running (a very common virus at uom..)

finally i got to print the slide..and got in class at 11.30..i was 1 hr late..and the lecturer was explaining..so my presentation would have to be next week.

Finally when the class was over..i returned back home..it would b boring to b at uni..all my friends were busy today..got back home..and was planning to go to lecture at 4..the nomad technician came by..and kinda fixed my modem..it was ok..went to jumbo..didn't go to lecture finally..

On returning home..i got a bus..which was also overcrowded..and it was the bus i was supposed to take if i had gone to lecture..and the guy in front of me inadvertently crushed my foot..the one which was already hurt..and damn its such a pain..

Now am writing this post..going to take a bath..theres a small gathering at home..

However tom is party time..hehe..with my uni friends..if u wanna join us..come over to Bassin Canard between 10.30 and 13.00. Am sure its gonna be fun..enfin will post back..

Good Presentations (imho)

Ah..interesting subject, specially in this particular moment when there are loads of presentations for the different modules..

The very obvious question : WHAT MAKE A GOOD PRESENTATION??

I ain't a great presenter..nor teacher..but..i do have some views which i might perhaps share..up to u to judge whther to use them, or not..

Before considering what makes a good presentation..let's see what makes a bad presentation, specially in our context at uni..

The presenter isn't clear enough in his/her oral delivery - ie, perhaps he/she has a low tone voice, or speaks weirdly..put straight, u cant understand what he/she is saying due to the way he/she speaks.

The presenter has too many things to say - this happens often when the presenter tries to speaks about everything in the allocated time.

The presenter is reading rather than presenting smtg - this happens either because the presenter doesn't know his subject, or is too shy to face his audience, and hides behind some large pages of notes.

Lack of eye contact with the audience - coz he/she is busy reading of course..

Too bulky slides - way too many information presented on the slides, and are often just read by the presenter or the presenter just say exactly word to word without reading it (as if to say "hey watch me..i can memorise this HUGE slide by heart")

The presentation is boring - due to all the above points

Now we know what we shouldn't do..so let's c what we should do??

(Disclaimer : these are my views..they might work..or not..bt it seemed that they worked for me..till now..i'll confirm when i get the marks for my presentations)

Be relaxed. Take it easy its only a presentation. No one will eat u. Try to probe ur audience if possible. To know who you are up to.

Speak nicely. Even if u don't have a perfect English or French, make urself heard and understood. Don't speak to low,and please don't chew a gum while presenting..it's freaking rude..and we can't freaking understand u!!!

Body language. It not all about the content of ur presentation, but also how you present it. Walk, smile, gesticulate and make eye contact with ur audience.

Its ok if u dnt speak about everything, atleast have a plan, jot down the most important things to discuss, and discuss them. If there are some less important thing, skip it, most probably some1 will ask about them during the question time, if not, it means it really was unimportant to them.

Know ur subject well. This will give prevent u from reading pages and pages of documentation.The plan i was talking about in the previous point will help u know what to talk next.

Don't bore ur audience with too technical details..unless u really have to..but u always can avoid it.

Don't use slides if u dnt need them. And if u do need them, don't flood them with too much information, use pictorials, use some main points, keywords..these have a better impact.

Don't Be Boring!!! It so easy not to be boring, crack some jokes (not too much), share an anecdote. If u happen to make a mistake at some point, stress on it and make it sound funny, but don't make fun of urself.. Interact with ur audience, ask them their opinions, don't make it a monologue.and ya, be spontaneous..

Yearly system at UoM

There is an interesting discussion going on at Avinash's blog.

The yearly system!!!!

This has been the object of many rants from the part of the UoM students, specially us 3rd year students who were the "cobayes" of this experiment.

I personally wasn't informed abt the way the course would be conducted when i joined uom. It only on orientation day that i got to know that it was going to be a yearly courses, and that we were the first one to be testing this new system.

Now this means that we would still be like in the  HSC system, where it take 2 year to prepare and then is an exams for the whole two years. Duh.."sappe dans caraye tombe dan dife"..this would imply having to memorise the whole 1 year of study for only one exam.

I think this is a bad idea, and it seems am not the only one,judging from response received on Avinash's blog.

The advantage of the semester modules were that atleast if u didnt work well in one module, u could try catch up next semester with another modules, or retaking the module. Now with this @#$% system, we can only have exams once a year, even it we have a resit, we gonna have to wait for a whole year to re take it. This is a very very very very bad thing. For instance, myself a 3rd year student, if i get a resit (hopefully i wnt, but if i do, then surely it will b from Computer Networks), i will have to come to uni just for that module one whole year..wtf???

We have been voicing out this problem since the very first year..via the student union..and also via the lecturer feedback, bt wht did we gain?? All the courses change on a yearly basis!!!!

Am pretty sure that the lecturers also don't like this system, yet how to change it? It seems like the main concern of UOM is to save cost..

I think its high time the concerned autorities re think abt the system, if not restoring the semester system, atleast give us the possibility to take the resits in the first semester of the next academic year.

Been a while that i didnt blog..

Been real busy lately. Where to start?? Well many things happened lately.. Am done with 2 tests..and got another one for tom..need to go revise..
In the past week there was also the Mega Show of the Rays Club, in which i was participating. The rehearsals we re tiring and here is a glimpse of the item we performed. I couldn't manage to get the whole video, the memory card was already full and my bro had to film this with the 32mb memory card. This was filmed in low resolution :s

This week has been a pretty hectic week.

Despite the fact that it has been raining practically the whole week. And the fact that many assignments and also a test was due for this week. I badly needed sleep, fortunately today there is a cyclone warning class 2,and hence there is no lecture..and no test either. I managed to catch some sleep. I've also been sick to the weather..sometimes its very hot..then it rains..and then it gets cold..duh..its as if the weather was not sure of itself..

Finally the week is almost over..together with this..alongside..think this was also a great week on the personal side..got to meet some new people..and some old people as well..

Anyways..this week was only announcing that the following weeks should be even tougher..today will b starting to code my FYP..and also need to start revision..since there'll b loads of stuff which will b examined..

Oh i would forget..

What is Matroska?

As mentionned in my previous post, i got a movie on as a .mkv file. This is the extension for Matroska, and extensible open standard Audio/Video container. These are found as .mkv files (for video) and .mka files (for audio). Let's c what it is, this comes from the website itself..and i think its pretty clear :

First, it is essential to clarify exactly "What an Audio/Video container is", to avoid any misunderstandings:
It is NOT a video or audio compression format (video codec)
It is an envelope for which there can be many audio, video and subtitles streams, allowing the user to store a complete movie or CD in a single file.

This container has been designed keeping in mind future issues, and thus can be considered as a modern container format..the following are the features of the container :

Fast seeking in the file
High error recovery
Chapter entries
Selectable subtitle streams
Selectable audio streams
Modularly Extendable
Streamable over internet (HTTP and RTP audio video streams)
Menus (like DVDs have)

If u're thinking what kind of player plays this format..then its definitely not ur windows media player..bt it u already are acquainted with the fabulous VLC media player, rest assured, vlc recognises this format by default. Anyways there are loads of free players that support it. And from my experience..i really enjoyed the movie. No problems at all.

The Sentinel

I just got this movie today. The Sentinel..was looking for that film ever since i saw its trailer on tv. I got the film on the mkv format. I will be posting smtg on that later on.

Let's get into the film. I think the trailer below says it all. The story is abt a plot to assasinate the U.S President. This is a really captivating thriller. With a perfect Michael Douglas as Pete Garrison, personal bodyguard of the U.S. First Lady. Kiefer Sutherland is perfect in a role similar to that of Jack Bauer in 24. Here he is David Breckinride, member of the U.S Secret Service Protective Intelligence Unit. This role couldn't be executed by any other actor imho. Unless of course, he and Michael Douglas swapped role. Eva Longoria is sexy as usual. Here she is Jill Marin, the new recruit partner of David Breckinride. However, her role wasn't that important, or perhaps she was put there coz otherwise, the cast would consist of too many guy. I was about to forget Kim Basinger, as the U.S First Lady. I won't tell u more..go watch the film if you haven't..else check out the trailer.

With 134 plays in a week..i had to post something on Royksopp.

I just got to know this band. And am totally addicted to it. I got to know Royksopp through the Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide Summer 2006 a friend gave me. And looked for some more songs. Actually am totally to one song in particular for the moment..and that is "What else is there". Although the remix i had listened was pretty cool..i need to warn u the clip of the original song my Royksopp is very spooky..

Was at uni today, after some time..spend some time with some good friends..it was nice..real nice..and it was kinda a break from the routine
and this also reminded me that am left with only a few months to spend there :-s
gonna miss loads of ppl..these 3 years are perhaps the best 3 years of my life..met loads of ppl..loads and loads of friends..
anyways..
need to make the most of these few months left
oh..
and it also reminded me that uni can be stressful (sirtout kan ena ene tas assignment ek rapport ek test..) bt i kinda missed that during the past weeks..and perhaps will miss that too in the future..

Another Spider

There is another movie that i am waiting for impatiently, and which will b out in may 2007..

I guess i will have to put my arachnophobia aside for Spider-man 3. This will be the third installment of the Spider-man movie franchise. This movie marks an important milestone both for Peter Parker and Spider-man. Peter Parker will have to overcome his feeling of revenge while he is confronted to the killer (Flint Marko) of his uncle , and proposes M.J. While as Spider-man he will have to face Sandman (transformed Flint Marko..), the Goblin (now its the turn of Harry Osbourne to wear the green costume)..and himself as his costume symbioses with an alien life force than influences his behaviour. Yes..Spidey becomes bad..bt that won't last. According to what i remember from the comics i used to read while i was a kid (i used to read the comics from my bro's drawer without him knowing), after Spidey gets rid of the alien life force, the latter symbioses with Eddie Brocke Jr., a photograph, to transform his into Venom. However, this is not yet shown in the trailer, however they do show some violent exchanges between Peter and Eddie. Now i wonder if they are not keeping it for some Spider-man 4?? Anyways..below is a trailer of Spider-man 3.

As u might've seen, there's been some changes over here..Indeed, i thought some changes might be welcomed..i wonder if u like the new look of this blog..

its a bit like i got carried by my dark side..and painted it with some darker (and colder..as some1 pointed out)

what's new? nothing much as such..only a there'z a music player now..where from time to time i will b putting some music i like..basically i can put only 1 song at a time hopefully i'll find a way to put more songs.

Arachnophobia

All of you who know me know this fact abt me..

I have a phobia of spiders..

i just survived an attack a few minutes ago

it was abt 00.30..my usual bed time..turned off the light..and got into bed

it was pretty hot and although i was a bit sleepy i still wasn't comfortable enough to sleep..

suddenly i saw smtg moving on the ceiling..initially i thought it was just lizard..but then i realised that it had too many legs for a lizard..

i woke up in panic and found out in great horror that it was a massive spider of abt 10 cm diameter..

i also realised i forgot to close my window..it was from there he came..

i already had difficulty to face smaller spiders..now this one was a MONSTER!!!

i rushed to get the broom..so that i do not lose track of the spider..they are rather good in hiding themselves..

i thought i would hit it..and when i fell down i would hit it until it came to pieces..

bt as soon as it moved..

i dropped the broom and ran out of the room

i went to get a spray can of DOOM..

there wasn't much left..and used it up on it..although it used to have some effect on the smaller one..this one seemed to be unharmed..and it moved closer to my bed

thank god..

my mum heard all the noise and rushed to come c wht i was up to..

although mum is not afraid of those monsters..she was startled to c that big monster..

so i again used the DOOM to make the spider run..and as soon as my mum got a clear shot..she would take it down with the broom, bt the spider was too fast

she missed it and it fell right on my pillow..

mum threw the pillow outside and removed the cover..(mo pas konner kouma dire taie d'oreiller)

bt the spider was no longer there..

it was on the sofa in the living room..it fell down while mum was taking it down

we again try to hit it..

it hid under the sofa

as it got out mum try another hit..

this time if fell outside..

bt we weren't so sure

so we waited for a while..

bt it was really outside..

mum changed the bedsheets..and gave me another pillow..

bt i wasn't willing to sleep..was talking to her

wen suddenly another smaller yet still scary spider surfaced from under my bed

this one was taken down easily

and thrown outside..

now its 1.44 am

and i cant sleep..thats y am here blogging..

Festive season?

The festive season is here, yups..so??

I actually love this season, it really feels like there is a lot more in the air (apart from pollution). There is indeed something more..some kind of..joy..or happiness..it is something very well tangible..and yet so invisible..

its actually so fun to walk around in the much animated streets..

well..this also is a great "instrument de torture" for singles like me..walking the streets full of loving happy couples, i just watched a movie on mbc1, His and her Christmas ,which deals about 2 journalist with 2 different viewpoints on Christmas (and both were single) and how they fell in love etc etc..all that to show the magic of Christmas..

Well i don't deny that..the whole from period is really magical..still..you kinda get bored with this whole thing..specially if you're single..lazy..and have nothing to do for the whole day..anyways..i do hope that this will change, and some more positive things will hatch up ~~like me meeting some1 and its a love at first sight..bzzzzzzz..pafffff...boum~~.

been a while i didnt post here..was ~~very~~ a bit lazy..

hmm in there past days there was the end of year party at the uom..

i got the opportunity to "met ene plan boire" with some class friends..with whom i never had to opportunity before..

well that was a great plan..

after the end of year party i went to kitsch with my friend vishal..

kitsch is indeed the place to be..

then today..

christmas..

had a small get-together with the family..

my nephews got their new ps2..we only need a memory card and an additional controller, they are currently out of stock (originals) :s

i got some money..~~another~~ a channel 5 perfume..and a new typist chair for my workspace..i didnt get to cange my glasses this year :s guess will have to wait a bit more

well it hasnt been a bad except that i found out 2 things..

2. The typist chair is great for racing around the house..

Muffins Made Easy

Ashna (plus connu sous le noms de Lapek), my ~~very very good friend~~ perfect cute little Sister was making muffin..
and gosh..
i lovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee muffins.....
well..i managed to get the recipe from her..
and hopefully my muffins will b as shhhwwwwweeeeettttttt as my lil sis..

here is wht u need :

100g flour( self- raising)
50g sugar
1/2 egg
50ml milk
15g butter( melted)

here is wht to do :

1. Mix the flour and the sugar
2. Seperately mix the melted butter, milk and 1/2 egg
3. Euh..put a hole inside the mixture from 1. and pour the mixture from 2. in it
4. Mix everything clockwise (Ashna to sire li pas pou fr meme zaffaire si li anticlockwise???)
5. Put in ur oven at 200 Degrees Celsius for abt 15-20 min..u should monitor it..
6. Eat it.

Simple na??

Been waiting for it for a while..it is almost here..
the new bleach movie will b out on ~~15th~~ 16th dec (according to Wikipedia) in japan..hmm perhaps 1 week after with the fansubs..and it is called Bleach : Memories Of Nobody..actually this week Bleach 106 had scenes from the movie as opening theme..~~i didnt get to upload the opening theme bt~~ i managed to get this trailer..which is much better than the one which contain scenes from the TV anime..
well..the wait is going to b long and hard..

Ah..finally smtg interesting..cellplus just started a promotional campaign starting today..well i dnt really care abt the other offers, since firstly, i am not planning to buy another sim card..coz am satisfied with my num (XXX5500), next, i dnt think i'll consume Rs500 of credit in 1 month and consequently, i wnt get the world tout. Podcast

Been in my mind to do some podcast..didn't have a subject though..
then this morning while listening to the news..an idea hit me..
hw abt a podcast concerning the day's news..that would b a way to help mauritians abroad keep in touch with whts going on in mauritius..
bt i didnt know whr to keep the podcasts..i ask a friend, Zlug of nubaz.com whther he would mind keeping the podcast, actually i wanted to do a sort of news bulletin on the nubaz radio, (on which am casting since monday..), bt the podcast seemed more convenient..
i proposed to send him a maquette and if that seemed interesting enough, soon my blog, and nubaz.com would have a podcast section..

they challenge now is to actually implement wht i have in mind..dealing with the day's news, without the boredom of normal news bulletins, giving it a youth touch..keep it as simple as possible..and as credible as possible..and of course in our very own creole..

well tom i will b working on the maquette..

Firefox Flawed???

hmm..many of u know that Firefox is my favorite web browser..
unfortunately been having some probs with Firefox 2.0..i know that i was talking a lots of good things abt Fx2.0 in some previous posts, still am a great fan of Firefox..
hmm actually there are two major observations I've made..whether they are related?? that i dnt really know..

I usually download lots of things, and very often use the Auto-Shutdown feature of flashget when my downloads are completed. Bt the prob is that i was getting some error message at shutdown, where there was some process XPCOM:EventViewer could not b terminated..tht sux..since the whole shutdown process blocks waiting for some1 to click on the End Now button..and comme par hasard...there is no one around..one day my pc stayed on that blocked state a whole day..i had put Autoshutdown on to download smtg that would take some 15 minutes while leaving home in the morning..when i got back home at around 10 pm or so..i was shocked to c it stuck on that error message..pffftttt..

Next i wonder if some of u have noticed that although u have closed firefox, it is still resident in memory and consumes abt 22,000K of memory..note that for a process that has basically been terminated 22,000K is a lot..bt that is not the only problem..i initially thought that this was done on purpose so that the next time the use launches Firefox, it will load faster, since it is already in memory..bt, unfortunately i noticed that on launching Firefox again..another firefox.exe process is process is created..and this goes on and on..

i usually launch Firefox many times a day..imagine my surprise at the end of the day to notice that there was as many Firefox instance running while i had closed all instances..and that consumed much memory..

On doing some research i found out even the Firefox guys were unsure of the source of that XPCOM prob..initally i thought it was due to the multiple instances of Firefox remaining in memory..since manually killing all the processes "solved" the prob..bt in many cases, disabling the TalkBack plugin or some other plugin solved the prob..which i tried..and since..no sign of the XPCOM error message..i hope it last..however..i still have no clue for the multiple instances of Firefox..on taking a look at the firefox forums..i found out i was not the only one..and there was no answer from mozilla developers yet..

NOTE: this problem is inexistent in Linux..

Carbon?

i've finished it in less that 24hrs (abt 17hrs plus precisement..)(not continuous..). Need for Speed Carbon is too easy :s..
The only interesting..less easy part of the games were the canyon drifts and sprints..else the games was rather short..there was no spectacular pursuits as in Most Wanted..since i didnt get busted at all (Akshay got me busted while he was playing on my profile..bt that doesnt count..)
Although i was much addicted to the game..mostly because i wanted to know wht will come ahead..i need to say i finished the career mode..there are still many things left..now i'll b doing the challenges..and unlock all the reward cards..i've already started another career with Muscle cars..the first one was in Tuner mode..Tuner cars are much more manageable..if u are used to them..i will try the Muscle cars since i heard they were the hardest to manage..

In general, i would say the game didnt impress me much..the career mode was way too easy..bt ya with the canyon races..those saved the game from being a flop..anyways..if u havent played it..go get it..ah..i would forget..the drifts are just fantastic..u might initially find some difficulty since they are not always like in the previous NFS..bt once u master it..u will b sliding all over the track..i have an account on needforspeed.com and uploaded some pics of my cars in-game..bt i havent yet been able to access it..

Well..
been working for DCL on its stand at Infotech..
hmm
was pretty tiring..
bt was a good experience..
the DCL stand was in a very strategic position
just in front of us was the HM Rawat stand..with its loads of pretty gurls and a sexy BMW Z4..and just behind them was the Emtel stand with their Cowgurls..iiiiiihaaaaaaaaa...the 4 days went on very smoothly had a quite pretty neighbourhood u c..
oh and i also got to meet many ppl..and had the opportunity to use a Dell Inspiron..with Intel Core Duo 2.16Ghz, 100GB hard disk, 256MB GeForce FX7800GT, 1GB RAM, 17" Wide screen, and Dual Layer DVD RW..its price was ~~only~~ Rs. 85,990 +vat..
I didnt have much time to go visit all the stands..bt infotech this year didnt seem that impressive to me..Nokia phones didnt impress me..the only thing that attracted ppl to that stand was the Z4 and for guys like me the chicks..same for the Emtel stand..i even managed to befriend one of the Cowgurls..and that was coz i needed a battery charger for my mob..not only coz she was pretty sexy and hot :p
the UoM stand wasnt that interesting..neither were the other stands..i spend most of my time on the DCL stand explaining ppl the difference between intel pentium family, dual core, celeron and amd family processors..and also y they should use or atleast try linux..or i was giving a demonstration of Need for Speed Carbon on the Game Stations or i was taking a round distributing flyers..bt that was mostly wen i spotted a cute gurl :p or was simply on a friend's stand trying Need For Speed Underground 2 with a steering wheel and pedals..
anyways..
that was a good experience..very tiring..bt still was interesting to meet so many ppl..i dunno if i will work for another Infotech..bt if i have the opportunity i wnt refuse

although i hate IE, blogger seems to b opening on it..

It is out since 1st Nov 2006, and i have been impatiently waiting for it, its finally on the roads..Need For Speed : Carbon. Well, for those of you who don't know, i am a ~~massive~~ fan of need for speed. I played all need for speed, actually need for speed was the first car game i ever played on my old Pentium I. One thing which was always nice with Need for speed, is the soundtrack of the game. They always kinda match with the game. My all time favourite Need for Speed are Need For Speed : Underground 1 (i would've loved 2 as well if the cars didnt look more like cartoons to me..i didnt like the storyline with the sort of cartoon style story..) and Need For Speed : Most Wanted. Well actually i think Most Wanted was the best ever Need for speed, well i have not tried Carbon yet. The only thing that was lacking was the Drifts. Else i found the game perfect.

From wht i heard, Carbon should be as good, or even better than Most Wanted..i need to say i really enjoyed Most Wanted, and finished the game, by that i do not mean not only beating Razor and escaping Cross. But also reaching a 100% career completion, number one on all the rapsheets, and also completing..or atleast unlocking all the Challenge(coz i dnt like the tollbox..bt i did all the compulsory tollboxes..). Next step is getiing Carbon, initially i thought of buying the original game, bt since it's very expensive and not yet available in mauritius..i got some1 download its torrent and will soon b getting it..if u want a copy, let me know..

From wht i could gather, the game was very much inspired from real street racing clubs, and for the first time in NFS, u will b able to recruit teammates..interesting. The is also the much talked abt AutoScuplt feature which allows u to customise everything..absolutely everything on u ride, i heard u could even design ur own patter for ur rims. Also this game include Drifts and Canyon Racing, to be noted that Carbon was much inspired from The Fast and the Furious : Tokyo Drift movie. Note that Cross, the cop from Most Wanted also appears here, he has lost his job and he thinks it because of u..so beware, he will b hunting u down.

i managed to get a spoiler

In the game, the player starts out driving down Carbon Canyon. It then shows a
recap of his last race with Kenji, Angie, and Wolf. As the race comes to an end, police use lasers to disable all the racers' cars except for the player's. Nikki comes to drop off a bag inside the player's car, and the player is able to escape, while the other racers are arrested. The recap ends, and a Corvette begins to chase the player down the canyon. The player reaches a dead end, where he is cornered by Cross and meets Darius and Nikki. There, he is recapped on the night of the incident, where the cops ambushed a race and the player escapes with the help of an officer. Darius offers the player a choice between an exotic, muscle, or tuner car as a starter to help him fix his reputation. As the player wins races, he will gain new territory and eventually challenge the bosses in a street and canyon race to win complete control over their territory. As the story progresses, the player learns that Nikki left a bag of money in the player's car before he escapes and that Darius had switched Nikki's bag prior to the escape. As a result, the player enters a new city where he meets the bosses of the conquered territory in their new rides. The player challenges all three bosses in a canyon and street race. Once the player defeats the three bosses, Darius hallenges the player to a street race, then a canyon race. After losing both, Darius hands over the car keys to the player and leaves the city.

Firefox 2.0 is awesome..been using it since Saturday, and till now not problem..

A trip to the hospital..

Finally i found time to go to the hospital..
I chose to go to the ENT hospital found at vacoas. since it abt 15 min (3 by car) from my house and also coz they would b more specialised for my coughing problems..
I reach there at around 10, and there was an already long queue, now there was 3 queues, one for appointments with specialist, and the two supposedly for records and admission, since there was only one board and 2 counters. well obviously i chose the one where there would b less ppl. after 15 min, when i finally get to the counter, the lady kindly tells me this is not the right queue. being a calm person, i go to the next queue, and when after 25 min i reach the counter, the other kind lady was preparing hte batch to b sent to the dr, well guess i wasnt in that batch and i would wait a bit more..
to my supprise, two other women, come right in front of the counter by my side. both wanna talk to the lady behind the counter..well it seems like they didnt notice that there was a 1m83 long guy standing there first (ie me..). being a gentleman i let them talk to the lady, one had come from cap malheureux, and didnt hear the name of her daughter called, and she was here since a very long time(i start to get worried..since am kinda allergic to hospitals..). the other lady, was a rather old lady, didnt know wht she was supposed to do, since neither the dr nor the attendants told her wht to do. she had just had an x ray and blood sampled. to me suprise, the lady behind the corner, who till now was apparently nice and kind, answered the other old lady ina rather aggressive way, i was stoned. and on top of that the poor lady would have to wait for 3 weeks, since the x ray and blood sample would take 3 weeks to process!!!

my god..3 weeks???? wtf??? well i dnt know wht the lady suffered from, bt wht i can say, in 3 weeks, much can happen. That poor lady could even die..ek mo imper sensible moi. i sincerely find this not a good system at all. The poor lady could only go back home, with much disapointement on her face. Oh and btw, i also noticed the new recruits, Proudly wearing their stethoscopes, and white coat, and a badge so that u r really sure that they were Drs. Well, i was in that compound for abt 1hr30, and guess wht, they were mostly busy walking outside,and they guys making the gurls laugh..well..no comments..

so i finally got over that, and finally got a record. and i went to sit in waiting "room" it was more a verandah though..and then smtg strike me. The hospital is surely the place whr u would get ill. Ppl coughing or sneezing without even covering their mouths, they literally sneeze in ur face.

i finally got a dr, he was speaking french, bt creole to his college, oh i forgot, in the consultation room, there is another dr examine another patient on the other side of the table.NO PRIVACY at all. now imagine, the other person is very contagious, and i have a mild cough. And, frankly, while i was there, there was another woman, have problems with her ears, euh..i need to say am kinda sensibleto other pain, and to hear her explaining her probs with the dr,brrr....

i spend some 5 min with the dr, thats the average time it take (for abt 30 - 45 min wait), soon i as i started to explain the prob with the dr, he told me i smoke (Tu fumes?? tu fumes???!! tu fumes!!!!! faut cesser, ou tu reviendra nous voir souvent..et les medicaments vont te couter plus cher ke la cigarette..). fianlly he gave me a list of medicines..paracetamol, amoxylin(antibiotics), a cough syrup,and a nasal drop. i told him i dnt have nasal probs coz i can breath normally, and ask me t breath through 1 nostril at a time..indeed..there was a prob..and his prompt answer was, that i got used to that coz i smoke too much :s

finally i headed to the pharmacy to collect the medecine, and the lady there was by no mistake, really very kind taking her time to explain calmly the patients hw to administer the medecines.

oh and yeah, i just missed the most revolting part..
while i was queuing up in the second queue, a guy came, he was weird coz he had color his hair and beard some sort of brown. he wore many big gold rings and a golden watch. well, soon i he came, he called up some1, and promptly an attendant came to meet him, and he was taken directly to the dr without even going through the registration procedure, coz for his case this could b done later..pfft...
so the guy spent at most 10 min since he had high priority..pfft..justice a 2 vitesse..

anyways..
hmm i had heard of violence in hospitals, dnt u ppl c the root cause of violence???

ok..
was sick..
have a cough which is still not leaving me..and i've quit smoking..i've tried everythng..cough drops, cough syrup..everythng that could medically stop this cough..nothing..
then came my mum's idea..
traditional medecine..
well, for once i agreed to be the "cobaye" of her experiment..

1st mixture : ene lespece melange avek cresson, du miel, ek mantegue..the taste was that bad..
Result : no apparent change..
2nd mixture : milk + butter
Result : no change
3rd mixture : i forgot the name of the leaves,bt there was also honey mixed with..and it had an awful taste
Result : niet..
4th mixture : boiled cinnamon+ du thym + limon
Result : nothing..hmm perhaps a slight soothing or just a coincidence that i was not coughing
5th mixture : milk + saffran vert
result : ur piss turn yellow..dark yellow..almost orange :s
6th mixture : boiled cinnamon + du thym + du miel + orange zest(limon was over)..it had an awful taste
Result : i didnt even drink it..had an awful smell
7th attempt : pure honey..i liked it
Result : bt no apparent result :s
8th attempt : melted mantegue :s euhh..beurrrrrrkkkkkkkk
Result : do i need to say??
9th attempt : my dad told me to chew some ginger when i was coughing..ouch..bad taste..
result : slight soothing..bt imagine my poor tongue's suffering :s
10th attempt : i forgot wht it was..didnt drink it..threw it outside
result: fortunately the grass didnt dry up
11th attempt (5 min ago) : milk + cloves + butter
result: i almost threw up with the taste of that milk..and spilled the milk over me

wht next? :s

TIME : a commodity which we dnt always have..

well, i didnt have time to post over here lately, so i've decided to post somethng here..

This was a rather important week at uni, we have seen the election of the president of student council, a programming contest (in which am taking part..) organised by the CSE dept, and well so much more..

Am currently reviewing my java, and i got eclipse, well, i need to say, eclipse is really nice to use, indeed, it is very user friendly, and we will surely save time in writing the codes, while dodging silly mistakes such as ommited ; or a missing }.

During this week, i've also (and still am..) experience some health problems. Indeed, am having coughing problems, at first i thought they were just the regular coughs, bt, despite taking medecines, they don't seem to go..

My mum says, perhaps its "fraiser", bt i dnt believe so, perhaps its cause she doesnt know i smoke, well am pretty sure cigarette is to some extend the cause of it. Am seriously trying to quit. And this time, i'll try to quit definitely (Even though i wnt b able to use the Zippo(i looooveeeeeeee Zippos..) some1 gave me..).

On friday i met Rishi, an investigator from the University of London, he was conducting a study on child health in mauritius, and i was a volunteer to help in that study. Well, he announced to me that they were going to have a symposium to b held at LT1 of uom's NAC. He also told me, since i was the only guy involved with computer, i would be in charge to arrange all the logistics for the symposium, that is everythng from microphone to LCD projector (and ya i forgot..Rishi's got a superb mac book).Well that sounds promising and its supposed to b broadcasted on the mbc.

While i was re-discovering java, i need to say i literally fell in love with the language, its true that i did have a crush for her on our first meeting, bt then i met so many languages, and lately was introduced to Ruby, a real sexy young language, which would almost drive u mad about her..bt i didnt get time to admire her beauty, inner beauty that is..bt for the sake of the programming contest, i will try to b faithful to my new gf, java that is..

Been also watching for the 3 time the serial Stargate Atlantis, for the moment i have all of the 2 first seasons, waiting for the whole of the 3rd season to b available on torrent, and soon i'll be moving on nomad 128.

ah, while speaking of nomad..

Well, many ppl might argue that nomad it crap, hmm that is sometimes the case, bt, for the price u r paying, and for the technlogy used, we need to understand them..i currently have nomad 64 ,which it 24/24 and 7/7, except some rare downtime, the service is pretty decent..and i get a pretty decent bandwidth..there is anotherpoint to note here..some times, depending on the position of ur modem, i might get a very much varying signal, which is the case at my place, and this means u r getting signal from 2 or more antenna, which is very much possible..the prob here, when u are one a rather unpopulated antenna, ur connection is fluid, and u to downld around 5-6 kiloBYTE per sec, which is the norm, else, if u are connected on an antenna which are well populated, then surely ur bandwidth will drop. a solution would be to raise the modem to a higher point. or to contact the company, and they will send a technician which will modify the settings of ur modem, and assign u to a single antenna, the prob here, is that, if that antenna goes down for some reason, u go down..

well as from monday am moving to nomad 128, following a promotion at the university, i wil b paying half the monthly fees, which means its even cheaper than my current nomad 64 account. well, according to a friend who has done the same, there is much difference in the service, well let's hope it the same for me over here..more news abt it on monday..

well, am kinda tired writing now, and my nephews are very noisy, specially when they are just behind ur back and watching everything u are doing..(kids can b irritating..)bt still i love kids..

well, this week's been very very very hectic..
had 3 tests..i managed to revise for only one..i was too busy with my project's background study(which is not complete yet btw..)
well..
last saturday i had decided, that i will enjoy my last year at uni to the max..and i did it..well didn't get the opportunity again..bt i think iw ill go to all the parties around..and surely will have also to slog hard for the studies..coz i have to leave uni with atleast a 2:1..

well let's put aside the party or study thing..
let's talk abt games?

well, for the moment i've uninstall all games on my pc(i wonder y i did that..coz it didnt make me study more :s), i've tried install some of the games packages on ubuntu..indeed there is no need for speed-like or half-life like games there(those 2 are my all time favorites game..) but the games are very simple..and some are very addictive, i just installed a sudoku game..wow..i just love that game..i;ve also installed a flight simulator, unfortunately my screen doesnt support the refresh rate..and am still trying to figure out how to change the settings..

i had installed need for speed underground last week, to do some drifting (i was impressed by the drifts in tokyo drift !!!), well, i can wait wen i'll b doing it in a real car..my bro doesnt wanna give me his car to try :s

anyways..
need to go get ready to the temple..today's the last nite, and didnt go the previous days. well, basically am not that pious, i dnt really much believe in, coz, am still kinda looking for proofs, or atleast smtg concrete to make me believe in, bt, i do like to go the temple(mind you,not to c the gurls!!!!!) coz sometimes, the priest does say some interesting things..

my mum always tells me theres somtg wrong with me..i dnt do prayers in the morning, nor attend prayers..well i dnt find the need to..i dnt really believe in those things as such, is that wrong?? faith doesnt work like that..i dnt believe..or rather i dnt believe yet..am still waiting for some sort of sign..that really wanna makes me believe in it..did u get ur sign??

OST - music from films..

In the past years OSTs are becoming more and more important in the film industry..in the past there were some films here and there that happened to have good score. The so called OST was not that marketable, lately, it seems to me at about the time Matrix was released, OST started to take more importance. Indeed The Matrix OST was one of my favorites, actually the whole saga had an exceptional OST.

Besides at that time, i was much into the rock/metal attitude, and The Matrix OST was much of a blend of Hard techno rock. Following the matrix other had some interesting soundtracks..of course those i'll b mentionning are mostly of my taste of music (its my blog..remember???). The Resident Evil soundtrack was just too good..since it featured my favorite band at that time Slipknot. That was the old time. There was also the Queen of the damned which according to me was excellent (i was much interested in gothic rock..vampire stuff etc etc etc). So many films followed..bt the latest (and the reason for which am posting this..) is the Fast and Furious :Tokyo Drift featuring the great Terriyaki boyz track. I believe many ppl like this song, since i've seen many ppl listening to that track on their MSN.

Those of u who didnt hear from it..go look for it..it damn good (depending on ur musical taste..)

well, tommorow i have that audition for the Nomad Live Reality TV show, well i was just wondering, what software i would b using there, and then i started to think abt which software i cannot live without??

here is my choice:

1. Firefox (an open source web browser)
2. Thunderbird (an open source mail client)
3. Msn messenger/GAIM (an instant messenger --> Gaim is open source)
4. Winamp/VLC player (a media player --> VLC player is open source)
5. cant think of a 5th one bt if am on Linux, then the synaptic package manager is vital..

if am to use a pc, b sure to find these on it..

This is my very first post here (hopefully not the last..). This week is one of wht i call a "shitty" week. I got test for the remaining days of the week, and have a project report to submit by friday.
